So it seemed like a bright idea to go down to my LFS today to see if they'd take a fish I need to rehome since I'm "trying to par down the amount of tanks that I have", and happened to be looking through the tanks when in one tank I notice a HUGE 12"+ FH, a 20"+ clown knife, african bumblebee, atlantic stingray (so beat up im amazed it's even alive) and a red devil "ish" fish, 7-8" hiding behind a rock. It's labled RD, with a $32 price tag. Anyway, to make a long story short, I forget all about asking the owner if he'll take my fish and instead talk him into giving me the "RD" for $20 because it's REALLY beat up.
Obviously a hybrid of some sort, what I'm hoping you guys are going to tell me is that I scored a red texas, and my $20 was well spent. And while we're at it, any way to tell what sex it is?
Right now it's in a 55gallon quarantine loaded with salt, melafix and primafix. VERY stressed out, torn fins, missing scales, wound on side.. ect, ect.. the colors aren't even as good as they were at the store, but you can at least get the idea.

Looks like a Jing Kang FH to me

mabey a hybrid, rd/fh, there's no way it's pure breed, with the rear end of it

My friend it is a golden trimaic, not a hybird. It takes one to make a flowerhorn. It looks like it has a strong color. Maybe a male by the hunp on its head. Just let him heal up, and cross him with a blood parrot

definatley no RD...definatly a FH...good find and good luck

I agree....He/She looks like a JK (Jing Kang) otherwise known as a Golden Trimarcu...

Update in a couple of weeks with new pics...
Very Nice!
