Picked up this beautiful pair of Honduran Redpoints at the LFS for an amazing price. in the store they were platinum silver with a blue frosty look, and the male has orange in his tail and anal and dorsal fins. unfortunately they don´t look as good in my tank because they are stressed after the bus ride home, and still getting settled in but thought I would show some pics for you guys!

thanks 90cat

and wow I am dissapointed in you MFK, I go through the effort of taking all the pictures to show what I got and 75 views and 1 reply?

Kind of makes me sick how every one of Oscaroo's threads gets 5 pages and people cant even so much as care about my fish that I actually own isntead of just asking stupid questions about.

How much did you pay for them?

6 bucks, they were in a tank with a bunch of 1" convicts and I just so happened to chose the 2 large white and blue ones for the same price ;)
this is why I love LFS's they don't realise what they have half of the time.

african cichlids and catfish are usually the best to get this way but this is the first time ive seen HRP's listed as convicts. especially a fully grown pair. I have a feeling someone mustve brought them to the store that day.

I remember I was sold one of these as a black convict once to bad I took it back there not as aggressive as black convicts and couldn't hang with them kept getting picked on

Ah, another red point fan. I have a breeding pair of 'platinum' red points as well as the regular blues. My blue male is a stunner he's got a small nuchal hump and long fin trailers. These are interesting little fish, I keep both pairs and a extra female in a 40b. Their young are actually feeders for my crenicichla. I don't know why I like them so much but really cool to watch them flair up at each other and even more interesting that they spawn in the same tank with no issues. Their aggression is so mild I've kept them with geophagus, parachromis, and amphilophus with no problems.

great a mod moved it to the media lounge, thanks whoever did it (probably JK47)

thanks guys, they are really cool and they are already showing breeding behaviour, they are in a 225 gallon 3 foot wide tank with other cichlids. the overall temprement is pretty mild, I have a male Nicaraguensis that keeps everyone in their place but he doesnt bother with the HRP´s cause the male is pretty big, about 5" or so. Unfortunately the flash on my cam really washes them out, they are ghostly white to the human eye, but the cam kind of drains them.

they are settling in really well and they havent altered the balance of the tank, which is good. if they breed I will raise the young, and either give them away to any members here in Calgary or sell them to an LFS. there is a few here that specialise in some of the more rare cichlids.

heres some updated pics, like I say camera washes them out, especially when its a close up.
