I went to my lfs today and they were parting out there front tank! All cichlids are 20$ and all plecos were 10$! They had a nice male red tiger mota in there, so I got it and I have it in a 55 to get it all healed up. (Hopefully I'll get him in my 180 a couple weeks from now) It's 9.5" and looks awesome!

I'm not sure if it's actually a red tiger mota, so can you please help with an ID?
It also has a problem with one of the eyes. It's not cloudy, but is almost pasted over. I still see a dot in the middle, so I'm keeping my hopes up. Is there a way to cure his eye?

Pictures soon!

pics of the fish?

I got the pics, they'll be loaded in 1 hour. (eating dinner) He's a little beat up (actually a lot), but has some major potential!

Has some healing, but yeah, here he is.
It's already a little more red. :naughty:
Like his teeth?

Aww man, they came out dark! Well, you get the idea. I'll make a vid of him when he's fully healed.

Both! The water looked like it hadn't been changed in months! (white-ish), it was with a breeding pair of red devils, some huge oscars, 2 jags, and more all in a 125.
I'm doing 33% water changes every other day, so he should get better fast. I also bumped the temp up to 82 to prevent him from getting disease. I'm a little paranoid about it because he has a small open wound.

The reds are already coming back, so I think it's red tiger. One of the pics you can see the bad eye, does anybody know how to treat it?

Only thing you may be able to do with the eye is to use some salt and/or Melafix in his tank water. The eye looks pretty bad from what I can tell and it may not completely clear up. I have seen some damaged eyes that cleared up rather well though.

Good Job on the save, hopefully he makes a full recovery :headbang2:

Thanks, already added some salt, it's not really cloudy, it's like a pigment covered his eye and smeared it all over the place. My severum got something like this and went 100% blind, however, it didn't have a pupil anymore. From what I can tell on this mota, it still has a pupil. Well, I'll hope for the best and prepare for the worst. :)

I'm wondering if there is any type of extremely strong medicine for this. Maybe I'll post in the medicine section.
