Everything looks very nice. I like the tiled look. The only concern I have, is if the tiles are 4x4", that makes the tank 18" wide correct? I would hold off on a female until you get a larger tank because youre goin to want the female to be larger than the male The other concern is the filtration. I only see one fx5 and to me, I would worry not about the mechanic aspect, but the biological capabilities of just one fx5. Just a thought. Nice tank tho!

I would be most concerned about what happens when you clean the fx5 you could disrupt the bio and without a backup filter you could get a spike. I like to have at least 2 filters running so that if anything happens to one of them my bases are covered. Wether it be a burnt out motor or impeller or it gets unplugged or whatever.

I would add at least an ac110 just to be safe if not another canister or a sump

Not trying to be negative just friendly input :)

I think for mechanical the fx5 is plenty. I think it will lack bio especially if another ray is added in such small volume of water. Please, take this as friendly advice as well. Too many people take things the wrong way on this site. I'm just thinking about the media in my sump and others compared to an fx5. I don't know the exact capacity of that filter, but it's basically a 5g bucket and in that you have mechanical filtration as well. First thing I would do is look for at least a 180 if you plan to add a female because you're going to want a larger female when the male wants to have his way w her!

Like I said, your setup is actually my cup of tea, but just some advice. Do w it what you will!

No please any input you have feel free to share. I have been thinking about picking up an ac110 for not only more filtration and as a backup, but for more aeration of the water. Only thing is I don't know if it'll fit on the back of my tank I have only 3" from the back of the tank to the wall.

Also, I have all 3 baskets of my FX5 filled with ceramic bio rings with a large scrubbie on the top basket. I have been hearing I should add carbon but then I read other people posting 3 layers of ceramic rings are just fine....input?

Well an ac110 would help, but I honestly would just do a sump. You could take the time to make it how you want and do a DIY w a tank large enough to move up when you get a bigger display tank. It's a matter of a couple overflow boxes, PVC from loses and filter socks. Throw it together and get a return pump and BAM, you have a filter that you can customize to your liking

I personally don't use carbon and haven't for quite sometime. I've had luck w keeping fish healthy and buying healthy fish so I treat anything w higher temp and salt carbon has uses but I never needed it

You may be able to get away w adding another ray on that, but I'd be afraid to risk it. Another larger ray may cause a spike in ammonia. First, i would worry about a larger tank and filtration for that
