Well, I caved. Saw a tank full of small WC ornates and picked a couple up. Had buyers remorse initially, but now that they settled in on the garnet I'm really liking these little guys. Both are about 1" or so long. Definitely a grow out project and it doesn't help that they were on live food (although I'm not sure they've eaten in a while since the feeder fish was easily 2x bigger than they were), but I think I'll end up liking these guys. Hopefully at least one turns out to be a male so I can pair him with my big female.
 
Great pickups Dr.B :) I remember when my one female was that small lol.
 
Thanks. Yeah, I love to grow out smaller bichirs. I grew my large female from 2"-3" and every time I see her I fell accomplished. (I say large because I haven't exactly measured her and her being active in a 7ft tank doesn't help).
