I snapped these photos about 10 mins ago. This catfish is hard to photograph, you must wait for an opportunity to arise in order to get a photo of it. So I took advantage of the opportunity and snapped the shots. I have (2) of them and both are a solid 4 inches and thick. Dont know the sex of them yet but they both get along very well.

On the web there mixed answers on max size. They all seem to say 7-10 inches. But I have asked around and found some people who have owned them and those people told me the biggest they had them at was 7 inches.

They could get a little bit bigger, so I'd say 7-9 inches max is likely.

Yeah my cichlids are big eaters. I have to be tricky when it comes to feeding the catfish. I turn off all lights and just drop the food in for the cats. Thats the best way to do it. Although sometimes if you are quick/sneaky, you can drop soem pellets on the opposite side where the cichlids arent looking.

that catfish looks incredible, definitely somthing i might be adding to my want list

I believe they are a seasonal fish. Ive never seen them in an LFS, so best bet is to buy from a vendor when they come around. Theyre worth it too.

They get along with each other really well. I dont know the sex of them yet, they could be both female, or a male and female. Or perhaps 2 males, but I dont know if 2 males would get along like this. Theyre easy to sex when they get a little bigger.

Theyre really shy and nocturnal in the beginning. Now, they eat once food is placed. They have started to eat during the day time too. When I feed the other fish I guess they smell it then they start cruising the tank.

Thats the only downside to them, they hide alot. But if you are patient and kinda get them used to you and feeding time, they start to become more active and you get to see them more.
