I bought this longnose gar 4 years ago when he was about few inches long. Right now, he is about 24" long and live in a 75 gallons tank. Next month, he will be in 120 gallon tank. Thought I would show you guys some of my babies. Lol

nice gar. get him a bigger tank. longnose gar's aren't the most calm of fishes. and keeping a fish that large in a tank that small with cats is only asking for trouble

Right now, I got my TSN in a much larger tank. He is now housed in 240 gallon tank along with Pacu. I'm just working on that 120 gallon tank so it will be ready in a few week.

even in a standard 120g. its a 4' by 2' right?
go a little bigger.(im not really one to talk, i raised my 14" 'florida from 2" in a 39g tall. hes now in a 125g) nice gar though

120 is is going to be too small for it too. why not add it into the 240? pacu is not a good idea for a tankmate thou. unless that's alr the plan then great

I do have 240 gallon tank but its being used for Pacu and TSN. I do know is that I will be building a aquarium down in my basement. Its gonna be 10' x 4' x 6' Hopefully I will be able to put all my monster size fishes in. But for now, 120 g will be good for this Gar.

actually, even now that's a tad bit too small for the gar mate. for the reasons stated above. it's a skittish fish. in a small tank. chances are high that it may break it's back. but it's your fish and up to you what you do with it

ok... so giving some option....what if I put the pacu (24") and the gar (24") in 240 g tank, while I leave my tsn (14") in my 120 g for now? I figure maybe that way.... The Gar wont break his back... and give me some enough time to build a bigger tank in the basement.

i agree with the above statements...your tank is definitely not "good" for this gar right now, and stopped being good for that gar about 6-8" ago. the tank should be at LEAST as wide as (the length of) the gar inside it, and this is definitely not the case with yours. that and longnoses tend to be less flexible than other gars given their longer snouts.

it may work for a little while, but it's not proper care for the fish. hope you're able to get that big tank soon--
