i recently got 3 xingu 1s from a friend. 1 male 5-6 inches, 1 male 4 1/2 inches and 1 female pushing 4 inches. in his tank the large male was pounding the other 2 so he had separated the large one. when i got them i put the large male in a 29 by himself and the 2 smaller ones in a 55 alone. the bigger of the 2 started pounding on the smaller one so i pulled her and put her in a 20 long. so now i have 3 xingu and 3 tanks.
the goal is to put them in my 220 that has jags, freddies, trimac , a uro and a large flowerhorn.......also in there is 2 sveni pike that i need to remove before i can do this. catching them is gonna be a ***** to say the least.
will all 3 xingu be fine in the 220 as busy as it is or will they seek each other out? wondering if i should add them and let them chase the sveni to the top in order to catch them?? sveni are milder correct? what would you guys do??

hmm... what is the footprint of the 220?

I doubt that all three X1 will coexist in the same setup especially if there is 2 males and 1 female. And they will definitely outgrow and probably hammer the Sveni. You would have better luck if they were all the same sex preferably females and a little luck.:)
How do you know that two are male and 1 female, usually that size is to small to distinguish the difference. They usually start showing m/f traits at
about 7-8 inches. Female will develop a white stripe along the dorsal.

hmmm, at this point i guess i really dont know, just assumed that because when my friend got them they were about the same size(the 2 smaller ones) guess i should know not to assume in this hobby lol.
the svenni i deffinatly want to move out to a different tank.

Males will grow more rapidly but that is not a guarantee. I assumed my X1 was male all the way up till 9-9.5 inches and all the sudden it started to develop a white dorsal stripe indicating female.

How large are the fish that are already in there. If they are of comparable size I would try all three and try to get a bonded pair naturally. Then remove the odd one. You will have better luck with three than two....
If the other fish are to large they may get killed before they even reach that point.

the fish in there are larger than the x1s. the flowerhorn is the largest at about 10 inches followed by 1 jag and 2 freddies at about 7-8 inches and the uro about 7 inches.
there are a couple of smaller fish in there also but nobody gets harrassed, they all seem to get along fine. none of the fish pay any attention to the sveni.

All you can do is try it and make sure they have someplace to go if attacked.
It will be different for them being the new guys in the tank, so be ready to remove if
it gets to severe in there
