So i went to the fish store today to get feeders. I really didnt want to get any fish, but i got a new pike cichlid for $36.99. The sp of crenicichla is a lenticulata! It is 7".

All I can say is Congrats. That doesn't happen around here i n Missouri, the only thing I see at an lfs around here is Johanna,
Xingu I and Belly Crawlers.

Oh Yeah, Waiting for the PICS:popcorn:

I hate to say it but that is not a lenticulata. Looks like a sp. "Venezuela"... :(

But isn't it hard to id until they show more of their adult pattern? I thought that the lugubris had several species that look like that as juvies?

Not lenticulata. They are very distinct.

Mark your right I checked the Crenicichla ID thread and it is indeed a Crenicichla SP "Venezuela".

Mark was it still a good buy?

Typically sp. "Venezuela" can be had for $10 - $15 a pop but if you like the fish and enjoy it that's all that matters.

I posted some pics of my lents through various stages of their lives in the post in the photo lounge for comparison.

whatever it is, nice pike
