I got a new pair of pikes today. I'm almost certain they're a saxatilis group pike, but they look different than your average belly crawler, or whatever. They have a pattern somewhere between a belly crawler and a cobra pike (definitely not cobra though), and they have a dark ocelli midway down the dorsal fin, which is something I've never seen in a normal lfs sax pike.

The ocelli and pattern don't show up so well in these pics, since I just added them to the tank and they're kind of stressed out. Any ideas? I'll be sure to post again once they settle in and start to get some size on them, but I was wondering if anyone could try to pinpoint a species now...

I got these at greentree ($7 each).

I know that the rest of the pikes in their tank were sveni, but these two looked different when placed side by side with an actual sveni.

I know it doesn't show in those pics above, but the vertical banding is more pronounced, and at more of an angle than I've seen on sveni's. The other pike shows it a lot better than this one does. They both also have a large dark ocelli in the dorsal fin, which I haven't seen in a sveni before. I suppose I could be wrong, but again, when they were in a tank with the other pikes (which were obviously sveni) these two stuck out like sore thumbs.

I'll try to get some better pics once I get back home today.

here's a couple new (but still bad) pics of the pike I don't think is a sveni. His black markings are paired, and are more angled across his sides, rather than evenly spaced vertical bars like the other one (which I'm pretty sure is sveni, and is the one pictured above in this thread).

He also has a dark ocelli in his dorsal fin, although its very faint in the pictures, but I think you can kind of see it in the 3rd picture of this series.

That one is a belly crawler (female it appears), Sveni and B/C's come in together all the time. They are super fun and interactive.

the first set of pics are sveni and the 2nd set of pics are bellycrawlers
