so fla
hello all, im interested in setting up a fairly large tank for piranhas, i had salt water tanks for years and have been bitten by the fish tank bug again, but i want to try something different, so why not get some nasty freshwater fish, i used to have a 2ft green moray and a 10 inch lion fish in a 60 gallon tank, i guess i just like to watch gold fish get mauled.
how large of a tank and how much filtration do i need for 5 or 6 red bellies?
what else do i need to know before i go buy anything?, ive never had a freshwater tank anymore advanced then an under-gravel filter and i really dont trust the people at pets mart and you guys have some amazing stuff so if you can point me in the right directions thatd be great

You might have problems finding someone to ship them to you. Probably have to find them locally if that's possible as their illegal in fl.

I have 6 rbp in a 135gal n I think its bout right. But probably a 75gal n a couple hob filters at the very least. Get as big as a tank as you can afford n find n get the best filters you can afford too n you should be ok

You'll be disappointed if that's what you think Piranhas are

Its not my vid but this is what blood thirsty monsters act like 99.99% of the time

http://www.youtube.com/user/jon34000#p/a/u/1/qp7Jbx3Wt6k

P's are really really really misunderstood fish and not the pitbull like terrors people think they are. If anything its more like having birds, first they dart off and then only when they figure out that it wont hurt them and what they will do with whatever it is will they really act.

Chances are unless you starve them or there confortable with you they won't even eat pellets if they know your around for some time.

thanks for the replies guys you have either saved me a lot of money or cost me a lot because i want a lion again now lol
i feel really dumb now because i thought they actually were blood thirsty monsters that will shred any mouse that happens to get dropped in there
the stuff you guys have in the media lounge is sweet and i think my piranhas will be living vicariously through your videos! sweet stuff

hahaha, all those mollies in that tank. I've had 16 guppies swimming around mine for 3 weeks.

I'm not sure, I buy 20 every couple of weeks and never seem to drop below 10 or so. The first time they went in, they were all gone within a week except 2. Ever since then, they've lost interest in them. plus i continue to feed them anyways
