New Piranha w/ old ones???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think its a thirty, thats what the aquarium calculator said... and the two that are in it are about 4.5" and the new one would be about 1.2-2 inches, do you think i should put him in another tank until he is larger?

Another trick, is to mess about in your tank, re-arranging wood-pieces, plants and the lot, after a period of feeding your P's as much as they will take.
Then, at lights out, let your new fish in, but stay close and watch out for what happens.

The idea is, that the re-arranging of the lay-out will disturb the established pecking-order of the older fish, which they will focus on getting sorted out, and the new one will not right away be recognized as a stranger, and as RBP's rarely hunt in comlete darkness, the new fish wil get some time to find a "safe" spot in the tank.

But, as you already know, there's always an element of risk to it.

Yeah, definitely put him somewhere else until he gets larger. After that, I wouldn't put three Ps that big into a 30 still...

yea i bought 3 rbs at the lps and put them in a 40 gallon and they were all about the same size when i bought them about 1.5 inches but when 2 of them grew and one didnt grow much at all ( there now 3 inchs and the little was was 2 inces) the two bigger ones at it so im guessing even a 40 gallon i to small for three lol. and even in a 40 gallon my 2 rbs are being teritorial :X
