One of my buddies picked up a mature piranha at an LFS last week. Since than we have been trying to get it to eat. its in a 40 breeder with a dozen feeders and hasent touched one yet. Tried uncooked shrimp and krill too.

I dont want this guy to die on him as its one of his first fish and im showing him how to do the maintenance and basics but cannot figure out how to get this guy to eat. Normally I wouldnt be too worried but I dont even know if it had been eating at the LFS or not.

its a good 7-8 inches for sure. Like I said im not too worried but if you guys have any good ideas were open to them.

He just needs to settle in. Give him a few weeks. They can go for a long time without eating so don't be concerned if it hasn't been too long.

spot on :)

ive known piranhas to go for many months without food so dont worry
give him time to settle and he'll eat when he's ready

I doubt it could go for 5 months, it was eating, you just didn't see it. But let him settle, it will deff take a few weeks. for their reputation, piranhas are prob. the most skiddish amazon fish.
