Hi there
I've just started up a 10 gallon planted tank.
I got a 10 gallon kit from WalMart. It came with an in tank filter, and a lid with LED lights.

Then i got some of this special planted tank gravel thats supposed to have special minerals and bacteria in it for starting up a planted tank. It comes in water.

I got a few plants including one already attached to driftwood.

10- Neon Tetras
3- Rummy Nose tetras
1 -Endler male
1- Cory Cat
1- UFO loach

Got the heater and used established filter media from my other tank.
Its been a week and it seems to be doing quite well. No bacterial blooms or ich and everyone is eating and seems healthy. Including the plants.

Now what?!
Do i clean a planted tank the same way?
Do i use a siphon and gravel vac with water changes?
Do i need to keep the LED lights on for a certain amount of time?
Do i need to fertilize the plants or do the fish do that?

Needless to say, a planted tank is uncharted territory. I hope I'm doing it right. Or sort of right. Or right'ish
I put a picture for any constructive criticism or input.

I'm used to monsters that tear up the tank and don't allow for plants.

Yes

Yes, if you are using ferts in the soil or have plants that root in the substrate be careful

If the lights are on too long, you'll develop algae. You'll have to get a feel for it. I always used my lights on a timer. Run for a couple hours, off for a few, back on for a few

Do i need to fertilize the plants or do the fish do that?
Fish will fert and the plants will pull nutrients from the water column. It really depends on the type of plant

If you ever want advice planedtank forum is full of info.

thanks a lot! :D
