got a full setup off CL for about 50 bucks so I was completely stoked, and the guy is giving me a fluval 304 canister if he cant sell it by the end of the month :D
got a few problems though

1. the tank is DISGUSTING
2. there are more snails in this thing than I have ever seen in my life
3. hair algae or something is completely covering most of the tank
4. came with some corys

Q's

1. the tank has flourite substrate. Is it okay to gravel vac it if its almost the consistency of sand? If a gravel vac would just suck up everything is there anything I can do so I can suck up all the gook in the gravel without taking out substrate in the process

2. what type of fish could I add to help control this. I was thinking a type of African cichlid like an electric yellow, or would a convict work. Or ill add a few small clown loaches. Can be any fish that will outgrow the 30 as long as it can later be moved to my 75 or a 125 I am getting in march

3. is there anything I can do so that this stuff doesnt continue to flourish

4. The guy says he breed his fish. Is it possible to breed corys. They are both same breed but ive noticed the bigger bulkier one is darker, where the smaller one is lighter grey with orange fins. Male and female?

also,
will a zig zag eel eat snails? Ive got a zig zag in it right now.

also also, Ive got 3 tetra 10 gallon rated filters running it right now, will this be fine till I upgrade to the canister or until I get the money for a big penguin filter

thank you in advance :D

Biggest question i need to know tonight
can i gravel vac my flourite without sucking it all up

you can try to gravel vac it, but this normally isnt done in a planted tank. as for the algae, the problem is lack or co2, not the fish. only way to rid the tank of algae is to add co2 or significantly reduce the lighting

This will probably be my only gravel vac for a good time its just this tank has been up for three years the guy said so who knows how long its been.

Thank you ill look into a CO2 setup

Well thank you :)
Anyone have anything to say in accordance to my questions

which questions? the ones about the corys or the tank itself?

All of the questions I posted. Despirately looking for a wayto kill the snail colony. If I remove all plants and fish then crank up the heat as high as my heated will go would this kill them? Or would I just F things upn

Can be any fish that will outgrow the 30 as long as it can later be moved to my 75 or a 125 I am getting in march clown loaches love eating snails. also take a look at assassin snails, they will murder any other snail :D or you can just scoop out as many as you can by hand. then get continue to remove everytime you do water change. or try to bait them with the vegtable matter. when they gather in large groups around the food, take them out and feed to other fish.

3. is there anything I can do so that this stuff doesnt continue to flourish starting adding co2 or Flourish Excel as a carbon supplement

4. The guy says he breed his fish. Is it possible to breed corys. They are both same breed but ive noticed the bigger bulkier one is darker, where the smaller one is lighter grey with orange fins. Male and female? dont know about corys.

hope this helps, lemme know if you still have questions
