Well ive recently been bitten by the planted tank bug again im almost done buying the parts . I also need to finish the room before i can set it up .
But this is my plan at this point.
The tank : 55 gallon bow front 36"l x12.25"/16.25" d x20.75"t
The lighting : coralife 36" power compact 2 x 96 watt bulbs 6700 k
The filters : 2 rena xp3's
The substrate :eco complete
The co2 : milwaukee MA957 regulator on a ten lb bottle with diy diffuser
the plant stock : low to medium light plants nothing set in stone yet
the hardscape : manzanita drift wood and lace rock
the fish : 20 celestial pearl danios 5 silver hatchets 5 peppered cories
5 german blue rams ? red cherry shrimp ive had this combination before in a 20 gallon tank and loved it im just doing it on a larger scale now pics coming soon

Love the idea but with that much wattage of PC light its going to be a fight to the death with algae.

You might try to hang the fixture 8-10" above the tank to lower the amount of light getting to the substrate.

Post pics when you can.

A pic of my planted 46g bowfront, maybe you can get some ideas off my tank Sorry pics are fuzzy my camera is a POS

***46g bowfront
***Current 39wx2 t-5 1 freshwater and 1 10k?
***Fine black sand no substrate
***No CO2 just Flourish Excel twice @week
***All wood and rocks from local river
***Fish-4 SAE,Bandit Coryies, Neons & Rummynoses, Cherry & Tiger Barbs,
Cherry Shrimp & Pleco

hey Ridehard, I have almost the exact same setup, except in the 36g. I just last weekend decided to take the top off and use the feet that came with the Current light. Are you losing much to evaporation? Any tips on keeping it so green? I'm using Excel and root tabs but my swords look kind of stunted.

I dont lose 2 much water, but I also do weekly W/C so maybe if I left it for a few weeks it might,I just use Excel nothing else,Do you have your lights on a timer??? Makes a big difference.Do you have any pics of your s/u???

I do have my light on a timer, about 12 on/12 off.

I'll be doing an introductory post in the Planted Tank section tomorrow with some pics, and I'll post a link to it here. Don't want to interrupt this thread.

Sweet i like those bandit corries .I will cover that chunk of manzanita with moss but im not sure what kind i want to use yet im edging towards the flame moss.
