New pleco caves

I like the idea of the natural cut stone. I haven't seen it done recently, but there was a guy I knew years ago that could cut stone using a circular blade on a modified wet saw. Very similar to cutting ceramic tile, he would make cuts into the stones but not all the way through then he would chisel tap the center out.

If you need a tunnel type hole you can use a wet saw and a hole cutter bit and work it through the rock, they do they for cutting holes in counter tops for bath and kitchens, I have gone in and picked up the holes left behind as scrap before and watched them work.

I have a few caves from plecocaves.com that look pretty much the same as the ones from southcentralcichlids.com. I like these new ones a lot more due to the fact that it is a single natural rock thats been cut. Ill get a few pictures tonight of the other cave i have so you guys can see the cuts. If anyones interested in them they can be found in the for sale section of planetcatfish.

I split an order with another person in my fish club back in the summer. Nice caves. The seller was accommodating to make them several sizes (small opening for hyphans; large openings for Leporacanthicus, Pseudacanthicus). The caves come in "2-pieces" so you can see how deep the opening is, and the scoop shape used to make the tunnel. I siliconed mine together just to make sure the pieces wouldn't somehow come apart and crush my plecos.
