New Pleco Confusion

[Mr Pleco]

I just pick this guy up from a local pet store for $6 yeah that right $6. The problem I am having is trying to identify this pleco. There where no labels another then Pleco

looks like a big gibby to me, sailfin pleco sometimes called-L083.

Good pickup. Big commons go for like $30 at my LFS's.

its Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps, the one you mentioned is supposedly the only true pleco, the rest all being Loricariids

It's spots are too small for a gibby. It would help to see some proper pics for ID, like side view, over top. From the looks of the picture it has the long sloping crest of a hypostomus, not the abrupt crest of Glyptopericthys.

i've changed my opinion as i've taken the old laptop over to compare to mine, and see there markings are actually different. how big is it?
