I think it is a Vampire. I did a search and want to make sure I have the right info. Water temp 82-86, ph 6.5-7.5 and they need strong filtration???? Sound ok? Also here are a few bad pictures. Thanks

Looks like a vampire plec but im not the best IDer. On a side note, I wouldn't use that net on plecos, it can rip/tear fins/cause injuries/etc).

Whatever it is, nice pleco :D

My tap water has a naturally high pH and hard water. A month or two ago my pH was testing 8.0 and my plecos are doing fine. I did notice last week when testing the tanks' pH it was slightly lower, maybe 7.8.

I tested the tap water again after that and got a similar reading. Not really sure why it changed, maybe the city was doing something to the water.../shrug

Not sure if its a great idea to keep it in a tank where the pH is intentionally kept high (for the african cichlids). I try not to mix African and South American fish, but thats mostly personal preference.

I believe it is'nt recommended to keep plecos with some african cichlid species. I have heard of mbuna plucking out eyeballs of plecos after being tankmates for over a year.
