OK, back from a 3 week vacation. Had to cut the bioload before I left, because my brother doesn't understand how to change water n' whatnot, so I sold 15+ plecos. Freshwater exotics and couple other of my regular online shops had some good fish around so I ordered them and asked them to hold the fish til I get back. All but one were nice enough to hold the fish for me with a deposit. Most of the fish arrived yesterday. Props to Christine @ freshwaterexotics for great service, great price, and great packaging!

Luteus, this fella is smaller than my last one. 11" compared to 15.5". That may not sound like a big difference, but it really do make a huge difference once you hold it in your hand. The last guy ran the tank, this fella is more comparable in size to the other plecos, so after a day or two of fighting for space, they are all getting along good now.

Bigger of the two, has a little scar on the body, but can't see it after it darkened up in the tank.

There are a few more smaller more common ones that came in these few shipments that I won't bored you guys with. I already ordered these fish when I saw the 4 blue eyes so... tank is overstocked now... need to start thinking which ones to sell .. :(

Gorgeous! You must have a hell of a filtration system with all those plecos!

Very nice plecos! One day I hope to have a luteus. Definitely high on my pleco wishlist!

That is an awesome Luteus. Always loved how those guys look just to pricey for me. How do you have it setup to keep the tank bottom so debris free with so many poop machines?

Thanks guys! This is the smallest phase 3 luteus I've ever seen. I think it'll get better as it grows.

I have a overflow system with plenty of of bio media, and a eheim 2262 to suck up all the gunk from the bottom. I can't say enough good things about eheim mech, the ring type of mechanical filter for the first layer in the canister filter. It's amazing how much sawdust it traps. As it traps the sawdust, it actually improves it's mechanical filtration, and the sawdust, being that they are just wood, doesn't really break down and acts as biological filtration too. I had a FX5 before and thought that it was doing a good job witih all the sponges, but bleh! it gets clogged up very fast and doesn't have enough room for bio media. Good thing it broke, and I went back to the 2262 I had yrs ago.

As far as the bottom of the tank, I directed the water flow to have all the poop collect at the corner of the tank where the inlet for the 2262 is. There's still poop, just concentrated in one area where it either goes into the eheim, or easily sucked up when I feel like doing so.

Ahh ur the one that picked up the tocantin, did u get one of the xingus too?
