After waiting for many years to them to come in again, polypterus palmas have finally been imported again, so I rushed out to the shop to buy a big pile of them....... Only tto discover that after being in the store for less then half a day they only had two left. :'(

Any way I am happy with geting some atleast, and hopefully I get a female so that I can eventually have a go with trying to breed it with my male palmas that I have.

Also while I was there the delhezi had such nice markings, so I couldn't resist buying a couple in the hope of getting a male to go with my 4 females.1.png 2.png 3.png 4.png 5.png 6.png 8.png 11.png 12.png 13.png 14.png 15.png 17.png 18.png 19.png 20.png 21.png 22.png

Del has amazing markings. From what I can tell they seem to be 2.5"-4" which might be a little young to sex, but so far they all look female. I'd watch the next few months though for anal fin growth as from what I've seen you'll just wake up one day with a male.

+1 on those markings. Thought I was looking at an endli for a second.

They are slightly under 3 inches. I still think they are to young for me to tell atleast, but will be watching there anal fins avidly over the next few months to see there growth.

Would be nice if they were endli, but if they were you would never see photo's on here again seeing as they are illegal where I live. :P

Endlicheri are illegal in New Zealand?

Cheaper in NZ then Aus, but still expensive. Here (aproximate prices) sens go for $30, delz $50, palmas palmas $ 100, and ornates $100. Over in Aus they all cost several hundred each.

The only poly's that are allowed to be imported are senegalus, delhezi, palmas palmas, and ornates.
That is interesting. So are all the palmas (buettikoferi, polli) able to be imported? Or just the palmas palmas?
