.
he has a white-er spot on his left side and its sort of surrounded by some red.
im treating with "Furazone Green".... any thing else i can do???
also...... what can he eat??? i have had him for about 6 days and he still has not eaten!!!!!!! i have tried.....goldfish....and frozen market shrimp and he does not tough eather one even if its right infront of his mouth!!!! any suggestions about the sickness or the food??

thanks

hmm, not sure what it is, but u can never go wrong by adding aquarium salt to the tank. better yet quarantine him while treating, this will give him the best opportunity to eat.

your tank seems awfully overstocked, and with some aggressive fish, so quarantining will probably do him a lot of good.

my tank is "overstocked" but there is no agression at all.....and i don't have a quarantine tank. i have also added salt to the tank so i was looking for something else that will cure him.

thanks

As soon as you get your lap up to full strength, you DO need to worry about finding a bigger home for those fish. Think pond.

good luck with your poly.

im in the process of buying a 150-gallon.........

anyone else??? any suggestions???

thanks

I would try pimafix and melafix. You may also want to look at the Mardel line of medications, specifically Maracyn, and Maracyn-2.

They have other meds too that will treat the same illness/diseases, so if one doesn't work, try something else.

Just don't try them all at once because that could prove more harmful than good.

What is your water change schedule like? Are you changing large ammounts weekly? That will help the wound heal.

well i do about 30% to 50% waterchange weekly on this tank. infact today is my water-change day....... after the change i will add another dose of "Furazone Green" .....i hope that helps him heal....... so cohazard which one of the meds you listed do you think works best and quicker??? because i want this guy to eat soon or he is not going to make it.

thanks

50% should be your minimum with that stocklist (maybe more lik 75%).

I can't say which one will work best because I'm still not 100% what's wrong with your fish.

If I were going to start with one though, I'd go with Maracyn 2. That will help fight bacterial infection (especially if there's already red streaks in the wound), but melafix in addition to that would be great if you can.

Have you tried live ghost shrimp? Prepard foods? Try offering sinking shrimp pellets. That's the first prepared food I got my lap to eat (before I sold it).

i was just wondering if this "white sore" could be from my pleco sucking on him??? i have 1 pleco that is a a-hole so i was wondering if it was possible also my channel cat picks on him sometimes??? but than how would you explain the red outline around the sore??? is this an injury or a infection??

thanks......i hope i can get him to eat soon........ the tank is bare bottom though and there are no decorations so i just did a 25% waterchange and i will do one more As soon as i can!!!!!!

That's very very possible Royal. If your pleco is caught sucking on the bichir, it's time to find it a new home.

Channel cats are just plain mean and will destroy most anything they're kept with.

I would just find homes for the fish that you wont have space for in the future (i.e. channel cat, TSN, bala, CK, ID shark, and banded lep.)

I know it's tempting to keep them as juvies because their small size can be managed with decent filtration, but what's the point if you'll just have bigger headaches down the road when they turn aggro and your water quality starts to nose dive?
