Middle of No Where
Hey all i am putting in a new pond in my backyard. Not sure how many gallins but its good size. I live in south florida and was thinking of making it a "native" pond. Really i want to put sum pbass in it. I can catch young pbass almost all year round in my local lakes. Has anyone ever kept pbass in an outdoor pond? its anout 2 feet deep 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. any other ideas for fish??? Any comments are appreciated and welcome. :nilly:

Be nice Perciformes, he said natives not illegal aliens :D (I hate that wet fin - dry fin rule)(we know your just jealous that no one used CA for a dumping ground ;)).

PE4COCKB4SS4LYF @ 220g where you are you could keep 3 or 4 medium size ones in there with filtration and some aeration (air stone, tube or waterfall).

Post pix of the pond and keep us updated.

A single pbass can live inside oh and since your doing florida natives dont forget the plecos and other cichlids.
Yeah i kno i hate that people just dump unwanted pets into our lakes and canals. Here are sum specimens of illegal aliens of our waterways. they wer all caught in local lakes by non other than me of course. species include common plecostomas, grass carp (14 pounds), PBASS, mayan cichlid, and jewel cichlids i put in a 10 gallon. Now the less colorful one lives in another pond with smaller fish.

Thnx for the info but forgot to mention it is not a swuare pond so prob wont keep that many pbass in it. Prob only 1 or 2 to start. Here are the pics of the pond and the young pb that will most likely move into it. I am quite new to pond so any comments are helpful. :D

ive tried to catch them that size by my house but they wont bite anything:irked: nice catches

Nice catches. Those preformed ones always look too small to me, but at 220g, that's a good start. I would recommend getting a water pump that turns at least 700gph and hook that up to a good filter

Great pics. The last pic with the school of fish. What type are they ?

KAB- i usually just throw my small hook in that school and they attch anything. other times a tiny hook and a wriggling innow is the only thing that will intice them to bite.:nilly:

BENZJAMIN- yeah i know itsa bit small but its my fist pond for now. Later will build bigger pond. alreado got liners 60' by 30' so big ideas are in mind. Just want to test out ponds in a smaller scale. Also gonna build an above ground pond afta this about 3' tall by 2 fett wide and like 30 feel long. :headbang2

LOUIE- that is a school of young pbass. my source of the small one i got in my hand. They are very fiesty at that age. Unfortunately so is mama. :D
