:D Hi Fish Friends
I am new to this site, and infact new to the Freshwater World. I would just like to say Hello to all, and am so glad to of found this site. I can see that any question I will have can be answered HERE!
I look foreward to talking to many of you and I hope to be able to share some of my pictures of my fish when I get around to taken some of them. I do want to say this.....I boutht a Ballon Molly at a Pet store the other day and it has to Heart markings on its sides. I was told by a friend of mind that they was put on there by the person that sells these fish to the store. Do you know if this is true or not? She/ He looks like it might be preggers, but so far no Fry. Looking foreward to hearing from my new Fish Friends.

hi welcome to mfk and to freshwater

Welcome to MFK

And yes they do tattoo these fish

Most persons here do not condone this nor do I

yea it makes the fish really stressed. i think it makes the fish look weird looking also.

hi and welcome! like baldoboy said this does stress the poor fish out and will also shorten its lifespan! you're usually paying more money for a fish that wont even live long and will most likely lose the tattoo after awhile. but enjoy your new freshwater aquarium and your balloon molly! i'm sure shes happy to be with someone who cares about her awhole bunch!

:welcome: to MFK!

Sadly, it is indeed a tattooed fish. The practice is discouraged as the affected fish runs a very high chance contracting skin infections particularly the incurable viral disease called lymphocystis.
