Okay I just drained this tank 72x36x28. I had my Zaire frontosa in there for a long time. I am going to up grade my w/d filter system & going to ad a large canister filter & wave pump along with air stone so it will be well filter. I plan on putting a light amount of sand just to cover bottom.
I have a large piece of drift wood that is sealed to the bottom & is staying. Will add a couple smooth rocks around same as the center piece island in middle & thats it.
I plan on getting a young pair of Motoros but want something a little more exotic so I will advise my suppliers to look out for same.
My ? is tank mates & i have & seen many setups including here on MFK. Some work some dont?
I want to first put some young wide band blk belt dollars in there to get some size then add some thin bars (about 5") plus some Rosevelts that I brought back from Peru trip in 08. Also have a odd dollar that I caught. All these guys are in a custom 160 & doing great but the foot print in no longer ideal & need swimming room. So I will have about 15 total schooling. Thinking just these & the pair of rays would be nice, but I have some other SA stuff I'm thinking of thinning from other tanks in my hatcheries. I have True parrots (get big), chocolate cichlids, wild peru angels, Pim ornatus cat about 8" & red shoulder severums. I plan on putting some bushynose plecos in for cleaning.
So who has experience & what you think of stocking with above?
I do want to breed the pair so if there is a problem coexisting with above please advise. Most above do not attend to be aggressive. My sevs I would say are the more aggressive of above.
Oh I also have a large Uaru about 9" that could go in there?
The cat i was just thinking could be a challenge when feeding the rays do to it being aggressive eater?

Your input is welcomed. :)

Thanks in advance
me Dave

Spot lights would be brighter and more dramatic, The bottom looks a little cluttered, rays are bottom dwellers and probably need more space below.

And yes I'm glad you know you need better filtration for rays, they create a high bioload.

as stated I drained & the only thing will be in the middle is the wood that is epoxy sealed to the bottom of tank. Will have a little cover of estes sand on bottom. I have had & sold rays already. Been around awhile so I know a little bit. Compatibility is my main issue.
I had a awesome motoro in a custom 220 60x33x24 tank
Raymotoro09.jpg
& had put a flag tail prochilus in there because I had a problem with them getting along & the next day I found my ray tore up & end up dying.
So now I'm committing to one of my bigger displays for a pair. Also my 5 year loves sting rays so when he comes to the shop he will get to enjoy seeing them.
Just making sure on tank mates right now.

thanks

^that has to be a cross unsure of what cross as i am newer at keeping rays, spots are not a motoro... motoro x henli maybe....nice ray tho....plecos are the only thing a don't keep with my rays because of so maybe conflicting opinions on here.each to there own...everything sounds good to me
