new puffer

hi all iv just got a humpback puffer, but he wont feed how long does it take for them to settle in? he`s about 4inch long and iv been trying him on prawns, any help would be brill.

We had a pair in at around 5-6" Months back. we had them eating mainly bloodworm and some meaty feed. Give it time. I wouldnt expect it to eat for a few days. Keep it on its own aswell.

My puffers took about 3-4 days before they settled down to eat and they loved krill and blood worms.

thanks, it`s the first time iv kept puffers, we`v named him richard as my missis say`s he looks like a turd lol.

Is he in a cycled tank? Check the water parameters. Have you offered him live food?

Try feeder guppies. They love to hunt down their food.

Guppies are not the proper food for a puffer. Ghost shrimp (gut-loaded) worms or small crabs are good live foods. Feeder guppies can carry pathogens into the tank & that puffer is not a fish-eater, it should be eating crustaceons.

thanks pufferpunk, i wouldent have fead him live fish anyway, i will go to fishmongers to see what i can get.
