New rainbow cichlid with flame gourami

Got a nice male rainbow cichlid and a flame gourami in local petsmart for $10
rainbow is pacing around the tank for 2 days so far, I dont know if he is freaking out or stressed, but the gourami and little bottom dwellers are doing great, any suggestions? (ammonia=0, nitrite=0, nitrate=10 ish)

Your rainbow is a little nervous in its new environment and in time should relax more. I'm guessing that tank is a 10gallon? Keep up with the water changes of at the very minimum 50% weekly and don't over feed, and you should have a nice healthy tank.

nice looking male. In my experience he is just exploring rainbows are almost always on the move. If he was stressed he would be more of a muddy brown color. He also maybe showing bright yellow to show dominance to the gouramie. You might have issues there. Rainbows are on the more passive size on the cichlid spectrum but they are still cichlids.
