I have a 6 month old male pearl ray, roughly around 6" diameter in my tank. Someone local posted a male marble motoro for rehoming online (was advertised as 8-9" but turned out to be 12").

I took him in today and introduced him to the tank. Initially no issues but came back a few hours later in time to see the large motoro charge at and latch onto the disc of my pearl. I had to physically separate them. My pearl is now injured and has a section of the bottom of his disc red.

I had seen many others keeping male rays together successfully without any issues. I currently have placed a temporary barrier in the tank and separated them. Trying to figure out how to remedy this situation.

Hi, with that size difference you are going to struggle. You will need to keep that divider in for a couple of weeks at least until they get used to the smell of each other. And potentially will need to keep the divider in until the 6" one hits 8". At 8" they are better able to look after themselves. In addition the 12" will get all the food so the 6" will grow much slower. Keep the divider in and gauge progress over the next few weeks.
