IN YOUR HEAD
one of my baby oscars was investigating one of my new rays(looking close at it not biting) and the ray stung the oscar:eek: now my oscar is twitching on the bottom and i dought it will make it....has this happened before?

i know there is not much i can do for it ...as for thr question i meant often, not before....

Rays will usually move rather than sting if they feel threatened but with yours being so new they're probably so unsure of their surroundings that they don't know where they can safely go.

My large tinfoil barb (12") got stung (I think) by one of my motoro rays. It had a bleeding puncture wound for 3 weeks but it survived (tough fish). It has now finally healed over, there is now a white patch where the wound was with no scales yet. He seems okay otherwise. So yes, they do sometimes strike.

it was just a baby...i had a bala shark, yellow bullhead, angel fish, 2 gouramis, and the oscar die in this past 3 days....

im sorry that sucks that, that happened but is there something up with your tank? why did all those other fish die?

Ditto

I have oscars with my rays and when the oscars are fighting or making a dash the rays swim to there safe place in the tank. I agree with the comment above. The ray was probably scared and felt very threatened and did not know were a safe place was so he had to use his option of using the stinger.
