So I have an empty 4'x2'x2' sitting here next to me and I want to put two P. reticulata rays in it. I am just aching to set it up as soon as I move. It has dual overflows, but I was thinking of plugging one off for extra bottom space and putting my micron filter->fluidized bed filter->UV sterilizer in the main tank. This way I can hook the FBF pump up to an old surplus UPS. I think this would give more run time in the event of an extended outage and the FBF should be wholly sufficient for a 120.

I wanted to use a 29 gallon as the sump and a 5 gallon bucket full of scrubbies as a wet-dry filter. The goal is to have that also be sufficient for the bioload.

What do you guys think is the maximum load that can be handled by a 5 gallon bucket of scrubbies? I was planning on using polyester quilt batting and felt as a prefilter for the W/D. Is felt a quality fine mechanical filter? The overflow is rated for 600 GPH, and I plan on using that to the fullest. Is 5 turnovers/hour plus the FBF sufficient water movement?

I have attached a schematic. Any comments or criticisms are appreciated.

I would not plug off the second overflow let it flow put the fbf and uv in the sump and you will have plenty of filtration

that tank will be fine for a wile at least but u r goin to have to up grade

Looks good...

5g bucket...200g tank if you keep the bio-load nominal.
