I got a new male ray size 12 inch last week so I try to find out his spicies what he came. But at the last, I still do not know what he come from. Please help me to analist him. He have black colour like Leopoldi with dark orenge spots and pattern line. Thank you so much.

Hi,

this is Heiko Bleher and I just came back from the Interzoo 2008, where I had a couple of stingray displays. One from Paraguay with the real P. brachyura (only one found in the southern part of South America) and one with to rays from the Trombetas system.

I am quite sure, that the Stingray you have is a hybrid. There are so many hybrids around now and it looks like a cross between leopoldi and the pearl ray.

Anyhow, if you would have known at least if it is a wild fish, or from a breeder, that would help.

PS: Does anyone know what is happeing with the 1st International Freshwater Stingray Symposion? As we all (invited) from Europe are not getting any answers for more than a month. Is it still on?
 
Looks kinda similar to my Henlei/ Marble Moto hybrid.
