Hi Guys

I got myself a ray yesterday. I will post pics soon for proper ID when i get home. She is only about the size of a teacup. I have not witnessed her eat yet. How long is consider normal for ray to adapt to its new tank before it eats. Fish that dont eat stress me out so I just want to know when I can official say im stressed out:nilly:. Also I was wondering if it is ok to feed it Hikari carnivore sinking pellets? I tried both the bloodworms and pellets without much success. For my lifestyle it would be a huge advantage if it would accept the pellets. This brings me to another question should I only try to feed it the sinking pellets until it accepts them ( if of course the pellets are acceptable)? I can then vary its diet after words which i am sure it will more readily accept krill and worms. Do I stick to this plan or is a bad idea. I am concerned that if I start feeding the bloodworms now it will never adapt to pellets, I doubt that the ray will allow itself to starve to death. I only want the best for the her so please let me know. This is my first ray and I intend to keep her a long time.

rays can starve themselves for weeks, and yes they can starve themselves to death. keep the tank and room as dark as possible. live blackworms and nightcrawlers work best. it may take some time before it eats. pellets are safe for the rays but it is very hard for them to accept. keep the water clean. good luck, you will need it.

Get the ray on earthworms, bloodworms, or black worms. Get it nice and healthy and eating regularly, then you can start feeding pelets and starve the ray once you KNOW it is taking food and will eat. Most likly if you attempt to just feed it pelets now.... it will starve itself to death

^ what they said...

DAM! they would actually starve themselves to death!? makes you wonder how they are still around doesnt it. Thanks for the much needed advise I will feed her what they love and hope for the best. My water is always clean so I just got to hope she eats.

live black worms or red wigglers (blacks live alot longer in the water) and cover the tank with a old thick towel or blanket to keep it dark... barebottom is also best for this...
