I've got a new hybrid (mot/hen) male that seems to be settling in well. I'd call it an adolescent - maybe 8" across the disc. Buried 2/3rds of the daytime but very active mornings, evenings and at night. Trying to get it on massivore- right now prefers night crawlers. Will eat black worms but they don't really excite him. Here are a few pics. I'm feeding three whole Canadian crawlers 2x per day - typically as big around as a pencil and 4 to 6" long each. The rest of the tank (pike, dat, barbs and tillapia) are on massivore and the ray will investigate and eat a few from time to time.
Does the diet I am providing seem substantial enough? Should I be starving more to move him to pellets exclusively? I got the Atabapo at the same time and he has seemed to pick up pellets on his own.image.jpeg image.jpeg

Gorgeous Ray! I love hybrids! As a general opinion don't worry about the pellets get him growing in your hands then transfer over to pellets. Worms are very nutritious more so then just muscle meat. I wouldn't stress.

Nice litle ray congrats. As the others say, if he is taking the odd pellet then don't stress. Give him what ever makes him happy for a month or so then try other things.

Right ON!!!!! Awesome looking Lad!!!!!
Pellet training is Never easy! Ive had some eat them easily and others TAKE FOREVER!!!! But i eventually win the war! (:

I just talked to someone who only feeds worms! his rays seem fine. But pellets are the way to go for me! Keep up the Great job!!!! (:
