I recently bought a shoal of four RBP's, about 3 weeks ago, and as a first time piranha owner I'm already loving it. We didn't intend to get RB's when we bought the tank and we got a 37 gallon (30x12x22) so its taller then other tanks. Now I know this tank is too small for them, but I plan on getting a 120 gal in the near future and currently have a 200W heater, a 80 gal filter running at 400 gph, and a powerhead to provide a small current. I have been feeding thiem bloodworms and brine shrimp, and in the last week, goldfish. Before I start getting the lecture about live fish introducing parasites and diseases, I will say that I have a very reliable private breeder and also plan on varying their diet.
Now to my question, my RB's are between 1" and 2.5", two are larger than the other two, is there any way of knowing how old they are? And also, my girlfriend found someone giving away convict cichlids that are approx 3", would one or two be okay with the RB's or would one species kill the other?
Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly apprieciated!
