I got 2 5 inch RBP at my lfs for $10 bucks. They have been there forever. One of them is just a tad smallER but he is kinda deformed. One of his eyes are smaller with a bright red eyeball. I call him the terminator. I'll have to post some pics later. Here's my situation......I have them in 30 gallon right now, I'm setting up a 90 gallon and planning to get 2-3 piraya about the same size. Will that be Okay????/ Or should I just get 2-3 RBP about the same size????

could I even go with 2-3 inch RBP's????

Or what about one 8 inch RBP????

it will be a lot better to go with a 120+ for that many pygo's... expecially since you want piraya. they grow massive.
or you could just get 1 piraya to add to the shoal. but the best option in my opinion is get rid of the reds and go with 3 piraya in a 90

If I would you I will until I get the 90gallon or bigger fully cycle before I buy the piranha. It's very important that the water are in good quality condition, fully cycle. There will be less change of a stress, and sick.

IMO 90gallon can hold only 3 pygo. big or small that is the max #...in general proper care.

You CAN out grow the pygo in 90gallon then get a bigger tank. Here I would put in if I would you.

40gallo 1 pygo
55gallon 1 pygo
75gallon and 90gallon 3 pygo
100gallon to 150gallon with length of 6ft long 5 pygo.
180gallon to 300gallon 7-9 adult pygo.

Again this is just me, other piranha owner may have different thought.

Wow!!!!!! I must have been pretty crazy because about 14 years ago when I was alot younger and before the internet I started on my second piranha tank. It was a 55 gallon (4' x 12" footprint) with 20 1 inch rbp's. a year later I had 12-8 inchers.

Well you gotta think that it's not what you want, it's what the fish want and happy.

Sure you can fit all 20 1" piranha in 55gallon. The question would be are they happy? don't you think is crowed?

Piranha are very unpredictable, putting 3 in 90gallon doesn't mean that i will work 100%..some fail some got lucky.

cheer! my friend.

Three in a 90 gallon should be ok ... I had 7 in a 125 and had no issues wth nipping or anything

3 in a 90 should be good, as said before.
