I have 5 red devils in a 90 gallon. They are 1.5" to 3". Once they get a bit bigger, I will sell/trade in 3 or 4 (depending if I get a breeding pair) and house the 1 or 2 in the 90 gallon.

BTW, 2 of the red devils look nothing like the other 3. Since they are all still young and change colors, can anyone tell if these are red devils, midas, or a mix? I bought them as advertised pure bred red devils.

Thanks!

I have read that before, it doesn't change the fact I would like some opinions from those who have kept RDs, Midas, or Midevils...etc...

I bought them from www.livefishdirect.com

Other then reviews on their own site and one post on aquariacentral, i have found little to no information on LFD as being reputable or not.

You'll never know for sure unless... Like stated above reputable breeder/seller.

If I were to take a guess if they were 100% RD or not, Id say no, simply because the site you bought them from has African Riverine cichlids and Central Americans listed under South American Cichlids. Usually anyone serious and knowledgable about their stock has them properly listed.

In the future, you could try ordering from people on here like Ira (The Wish List), Gage (Cichlid Connection), Jeff Rapps (Tangled Up in Cichlids) as well as an abundance of others in the MFK Marketplace . Quality stock from knowledgable sellers and you always get exactly what you order.

I guess I should quit caring if they are pure bred red devils or not because so far I am happy with them all! I have always loved muts...so maybe i will refer to them as my muts! There is a tank boss already and i call him Fidel. The only reason that I wanted a pure red devil as opposed to a midas or a mix is because although the nochal humps are nice....I just prefer a small or no nochal hump at all. it will be fun watching them grow!

Same with me I don't care if its pure as long as it grows a nice nuchal hump.
