OH
My pair of red jewels spawned last week, now I have hundreds of hungry fry. So far so good. I am planning on enjoying their parenting behaviour for a couple more days, then moving the fry to their own tank.

Cool! Congrats....how many fry do you think you've got?

The parents are recent additions. I know that they spawned about a month ago and then again 10 days ago.

I would guess that there are about 150 fry. I have moved 3/4 of the fry to another tank. The pair are still caring for their young.

I only saved about 14 of the fry for our first pair (The syn. P's got the rest)but we have two more pair spawning. My wife and I assumed that they were too young untill we had a mass of free swimmers LOL. Now I have the individual breeder tanks set up.

How long are you leaving the fry with their parents? What are you doing with the fry?

The fry are in thier own tank now as was intended from the begining. We got 10 red jewels to form pairs but this happened WAY faster than we were ready for. The larger fish are only 3" or so. We intend to let the pair(s) raise the fry for the first week normally but these spawned in the pair off tank. This tank also holds about 45 baby synd p catfish.

It only took 19 days ... all but 3 fry have been moved to another tank. The three left are too difficult to catch. There are about 200 new eggs.

Use something like a bottle trap to catch the fry, It'll make everything 100% easier.

There breeding like crazy congratulations.
