Simply Amazing!
Thanks Freddie -- just my lucky day coming across him in my lfs, as I had been looking for a Texan (any kind) but they're actually not so easy to find on the island. Just as amazing was what I got him for: shop was asking 1,500 Thb (~$45); I casually asked for a discount and as a good customer they nicely obliged with 1,200 Thb (~$35) :)

Adjusted for cost of living difference between here and US, that would be roughly $90 relatively speaking, but still a deal for a full of attitude beauty.

Certainly will, Jexnell, Thx for comments -- but if the animal guy is right, then it's a she, not a he...The fish is about 8 mos old -- if it were a male Kamfa he would for sure have a MUCH bigger kok -- Thai fish shops simply do not sell small-headed male flowerhorns, there's too much great choice in the local market and absolutely know one would buy them. And this guy/gal is no low quality cull...Texans on the other hand don't have such big koks, which would explain why this one's isn't big but still a male (which I think he is).

In fact, with all due respect to the animal guy who by # of posts/likes I can only assume generally knows his stuff, I'm leaning toward the assessment of some other knowledgeable pros that he is indeed a Red Texan hybrid -- via Kamfa and Texan cross -- quite like this one posted by a Thai guy: http://www.ninekaow.com/wbs/?action=view&sub=01&id=0011544

There is of course no strict standard for Red Texan hybrids, what comes out depends on what exactly was crossed, and then even luck/random odds plays a huge role -- I can easily see traits of both kamfa and texan in this guy.

The animal guy could indeed be right -- I'm still collecting more opinions -- but frankly I'll love him no matter what he is (so no you can't have him fisheat fish bro :) ) -- he's beautiful, full of character and wants to kill me. I just want to know for sure wtf he is :D

The back half definitely shows texas in him. Just for comparison, here's an unfaded texas I once had. Similarities in the fins & tail and also, barely visible in the photo is the redness. This guy, unfortunately was not fertile...I tried many times with multiple females.

Wow, yeah that really looks like my fish fisheatfish, appreciate your posting that. But now I'm really confused...I was in fact starting to lean toward kamfa (as admin of one of the most popular flowerhorn sites just posted opinion that it was a good question, it might possibly have some texas blood in him, but he really didn't see it, and was of the opinion it was 'predominantly' kamfa, so again your fish has me not sure again
