Hello, about 10 days ago I purchased a 5 inch male red tiger motaguense male from a lfs, I put him in a 65 gallon quarantine, anyways he started eating day 2, I've been giving him northfin predator pellets and spirilina pellets, but strangely I notice he hasn't really put on any size thickness wise, I find him still very skinny and skittish , wondering if anyone had any advice? I'm afraid it might be something internal

Looks a bit skinny but not terrible.. give him a bit more time.. and from my mota ... I beleive they are just skittish at a young age... my guy is just starting to come out more often and hes about 9 inches now... got him about 3.5 months ago at same size as urs.. fast grower

I'll try giving him abit more time, I'm cycling a 90 gallon at the moment , hopefully hell like that tank abit more

He had a full rounded belly yesterday afternoon? How many pellets and what size pelletes was he fed?
That's what worries me even if he eats 7 pellets his belly never really gets rounded, the pellets I gave him yesterday were nutrifin max spirilina sticks

Personally I would feed him NLS Hex-Shield for several days as a preventative clean out. It won't hurt, but can definitely help with stock that are fresh from the LFS.

ill give that a try, i was giving him spiriliana pellets as a way of cleaning out his system

If you can't get any weight on him you might try API general cure. I've used it a couple times now with new fish. Doesn't seem to have any negative effects. You can't even tell it's in the water and it is a very easy to use all-around med. Just follow the directions on the box. It's worked great for me.
