:woot:went and got my ten gallon tank yesterday!!!:grinno: filled it up today with half salt water i mixed and half from my FOWLR tank. i also put a half CM
of sugar sized sand from my FOWLR tank into my future reef to add nitrifiying bacteria. for lighting ive got two 20W COMP FLORESCENT 50/50
actinics, and a 15 watt 420K actinic strip bulb. alll totaling to 5.5 watts per gallon ive got one peppermint shrimp in as a guinea pig as to my water quality. was wandering if because of the bacteria from my 55gallon there wouldnt be a ammonia or nitrite spike. also if the cycling proccess would be shorter for the same reason. i would like an estimate of the time until i can stock with fish, then corals. it will be fairly lightly stocked with two clown gobys a occeralis clown fish five peppermint shrimp a brittle star and a few snails.
for inverts i will have a sebae anemone for my clown, a birds nest coral for my gobies, star polyps, zoanthids, mushrooms and mabye a few others later on. please answer my questions and add oppenions on my lighting, filtering, and stocking :nilly:

Unfortunatly you are trying to add to many living organism's in such a small tank the lighting is good peppermint shrimp have been known to snack on Zoanthids I found out the hard way. Sebae anemone are really tricky anemone's I would substitue that for a bubble tip which are a bit more hardy. as far as 5 peppermint I would stick to 2 at the most zero if it was my tank I would just have 1 cleaner shrimp. I would take my time stocking a tank so small maybe a few month's before adding anything to let your microfauna and zooplankton to breed and multiply before coral's so there can be some live food in the system along with some extra life to take away some waste. Just go slow with a reef tank that is what is key to success in the long run taking your time and being patient.

Also quarantine any saltwater coral's, inverts, and fish to keep from adding disease or pests, or predators.
