So I have been keeping an eye on this poor guy at my LFS and have been wanting him for about 2 months. I know that to some people he may be ugly, but a majority of my fish are rescues and have something "wrong" with them. My green severum baby has one normal sized eye , and the other is about 1-2 mm. I have a red jewel that I have adoption papers from Petsmart for. He was beat up and has a upper "lip" that will always remain in two pieces. Plus he lost one of his eyes due to the fight.

Any how, getting off topic.

I rescued this guy. The owner of the store knows I tend to go for the "hard luck" ones as he put it, and even though I was on my lunch break, he bagged him up for me. I ran home and snapped a pic, and let my husband aclimate him. Supposedly he eats very well, but I will judge that on my own. lol

From what I read this will shorten his life, right? He doesn't seem uncomfortable. He seems to get around just like the others, just makes shorter strokes and swims more in the middle.

Here is a bad pic of him. I will try to get one with my real camera later and post.:hearts:

Poor little guy. My heart goes out to you both. Thanks for taking care of him!

Good on you for taking care of such a fish, I just hope you're prepared to do the right thing if its quality of life ends up being too compromised.

It wouldn't be the first time. I don't believe in letting animals suffer to make the pain of losing one less for our sake. All of my animals that have passed, were put down humanely. (Either from multible organ failures, tumor on pancreas that ruptured, and some others that were painful to find out.) Thank you for the commendation. I just adore all my "gimpies".

oh..poor aro hope he heals..

Good for you. Most people aren't willing to deal with the rejects. About half of my fish and all my larger animals are rescues that weren't wanted so I know what it's like.

nice pickup GL on keeping it alive

Poor silver, but luckily he is in good hands now! Nice rescue and I don't think it's ugly! Ugly is such a harsh word, he is just "Unique."
