I have had 3 retic's and now the baby and they have all had totally different patterns. Your new pick up has an awesome pattern though and maybe she has something else in her. I know we always hear to keep rays on bare bottom or fine sand and mine are on fairly fine sand but more because I like the look of it than anything. I think like zoodiver has said before you will find rays salt or fresh on just about anything from rocks, coral, silt, mud, or sand. As long as it doesn't seem to bother the ray I wouldn't worry about it. It always amazes me the things some of us ray keeps do for our rays thinking it will be better for them, sometimes I take a step back and think "what was it like in the wild for them" I would like to know who detailed their shrimp, gave them pellets, made sure they only had fine sand, and then I laugh at my self and know they have a better chance of survival in my tank than in the wild, I love my rays and I know I baby them but come on people some of the things we do is just silly with them. Oh I have totally went off on a tangent I need to go to bed!
