New Ride

I did something stupid, sold a bunch of guns and purchased a boat! The good ole money pit.

Shes a 1976 Aquasport 170, a popular boat down this way as she drafts real shallow but can handle a bit of rougher stuff for some offshore fishing on decent days in the Gulf.

She has a new paint job, fuel tank, controls, tach, fuel flow meter and is a power by a '99 Yamaha 85hp with only 390hrs that pushes her about 40mph.

I cant wait to bloody her decks!

Key Wests are nice boats. If I had a bigger budget my ideal boat would have been a 19ft cape horn but for $2500 for the boat I couldnt pass her up. And yes, I still have a "few" left.

If I decide to keep her for awhile I want to add a T-top, close off the transom and add a bracket for the motor, and a poling platform. Shed make a great flats/nearshore hybrid. Ive been out 15+ miles in the Gulf on a smaller boat so I think on the right days amberjack, snapper and grouper will fear me!
