well as soon as me and my sis get togther were gunna start a small 20 or 30 gallon saltwater tank within a few months of us being togther and want clown fish and some inverts so can anyone help me on finding info on some inverts and clownfish AND sme angel fish or wessels ( sry dont now how to spell that ) and thxs

when you get close to setting it up with all your other ideas, let us know. until then, i suggest the search option.

I don't recommend a 20-30 gallon salt to a first timer. It also sounds like you want to pack some fish in there. You need larger. A 55 is a perfect salt starter tank. Salt fish don't respond as well to depleted conditions as well as fresh, so the smaller he tank, the easier to have parameter changes. Once you are established with salt, then you could think about something smaller.

well i thought thts a good start but well get a 55 then if thats what it takes but i now we want a few wressles and a few clownfish ( breeder clowns to breed )

if you stick to the basics of fish keeping it doesn't matter what size tank you go with.

im a huge freswater guy but im sure you know that. been doing it for over 10 years and i finally setup a small 10gal salt tank. boy is it fun lol. so new to it but im having zero problems after a only a few months into it.

keep up with weekly water changes. or bi-weekly and weekly fresh topoffs. do not topoff with salt water as evap takes water not salt so it actually increases solinity when water evaps and you needa top off with fresh ro/di water. i usually do my water changes every other sunday after football. and weekly topoffs sunday after football. i have a protein skimmer on my 10gal but other people say you don't need one when u go with such a small tank. i say why not. you don't really need "bio" media in ur filters when you do salt. all you need is 1-2lbs of live rock per gallon in ur tank. maybe some rubble in ur hob filter will even be nice. maybe eventually try to get a fuge going. more gph is good with salt. not necessarily to ur sump, but inside the tank good gph is good.

get ur live rock n sand first... then get some cleaner snails/hermi crabs. buy a cleaner shrimp or 2 or fire shrimp. and then get ur fishies.

good luck breeding clowns. if ur gonna try dont get any other fish

what about mantis shrimps?? or red coral shrimp?

Mantis shrimp will kill everything, and unless you get a spearer species, it'll break any glass tanks.
They can also seriously injure a person.
