i bought my bestfriends saltwater set up yesterday cuz he was just going to get rid of it. wel i got it all set up but its in a 20 gal tank. well i have about 50 pounds of live sand 15 pounds of live rock, a seaclone 100( dont fit on my tank) and some type of hob filter. all i need to do know is let it cycle a bit to get the microorganism growth up again then i'll add some fish here some of what i was thinking

some jawfish to play in the sand
some gobies
a few baby blue green reef chromis's(for my girlfriend)
and maybe a blenny

what do ya'll think

in a 20 gallon stick to just the jawfish OR the gobies.. they'll fight if there's too many

if the chromis are a temporary thing... sure
the numbers they need not to just fight with eachother are only attainable in a 20 if they are only going to be there for a while
if you've ever seen an old (probably donated) chromis at an LFS you know what im talking about

tht sounds good to me. give it like 2 mouths to cycle and i would bye a cheep $5 fish just to test it cuz you dont want all your nice fish to die =] the live sand will be grate for the cycling to

a test kit is an infinitely better investment than a "cheap $5 fish"

no when im at the lfs i really dont look at the salt water section

well then hold out three fingers... that's about the size of the fish's body when fully grown.. too big IMHO for a 20 gallon, especially with activity levels

well i was thinking about moving my salt water to my 29 so i have more space and then i wouldnt have to buy a new skimmer than the one i have....... so what do ya'll think

i had my 29 gallon set up as a reef for a while and had 3 chromis and they did just fine. Bickered with my clowns at first but they got along fine. Even in the 20 small chromis would last you a while. if the tank was established and it is indeed 'live' sand and 'live' rock you dont really even need to wait at all to put the fish in.
