So I went to pets smart to get some fish food, and I came upon a baby 2.5 inch miserable looking Senegal bichir... I know I shouldn't have but I bought it hoping to save the poor thing.. Will post pics an update if it lives..

Pet smart stinks at keeping their fish!! I hope your sen lives!!

do you have experience with polypterus?? Feed the baby some sinking pellets and brine shrimp to boost up it's size.

Yeah its not my only poly, Ill fatten him up on brineshrimp and blood worms, and maybe even cut up earth worms...The poor little thing can't go with my other polys because I feed them earthworms bigger then this guy! I really hope I can rescue the little guy :(

Here the little beast is...he seems to be doing better with some nice fresh water. when I bought him the lady that bagged him put like 4 squezzes of some conditioner for some reason...not sure if that was neccesary... I put a few rocks stacked up for him to tunnel in...Ive always noticed baby bichirs enjoy this, also I put a fake plant at the top of the tank for him to rest on like they do in the wild, will do first small feeding tonight to see if he eats... wish him luck!

wow the sen is a shrimp!!! It's cute but he'll need a lot of fattning up to do!

I know, he's adorable! I was surprised when I didn't see external gills...they must have just lost them and then shipped the poor things. He was housed with a bunch of albino tiger barbs and 6" ghost knives! I saw the barbs picking on him and I had to save him haha.

Update: So I fed a few frozen brine shrimp and blood worms, I didn't get to sit and watch because I had to do something, however the bottoms looks relatively clean...I just put a very small piece of earthworm in there, he found it and after snapping at it a few times, he grabbed it up and ate it, so he seems to be improving!
