Bloodworms, mysis shrimp brine shrimp, chopped pellets small sliced beefheart-Anne

:iagree:, and would throw in a few small ghost shrimp once he puts a bit more weight on.

Nice little sene!

O

1.5"? that's smaller than I've seen. Get him next to a ruler please? :-) I got mine at about 2.25" and he's doing well on omega one sinking shrimp pellets and the ocasional guppy fry

i got it to eat guppy fry today. it got fat quike after that lol

hey, it all depends on what avenue you want to take in the future. If youd like to start it on live food and keep it on live with supplements then go for it. BUT, young polypterus avidly seek bloodworm blocks (to initiate eating), then try beefheeat (for growth), krill, whitefish (silvesides or smelts chopped up) and small feeders. Keep in mind that polys give a bite or 2 and then swallow, so make sure your food is easily palatable. I have around a 19 inch polypterus that wrangles with jumbo shrimp and large smelt for example, and i have to give him the gelatinized stuff!
