just got him today. he/she is 1.5''. its in a 10gallon til it reaches 3''-4''. heres some pics. o ya what should i feed him at this size. blackworms, live brine, flake????

Nice pickup, man, cute little guy. I had the same questions about food. I just bought a little Senegal from PetSmart today about the same size, lol...
, and would throw in a few small ghost shrimp once he puts a bit more weight on.1.5"? that's smaller than I've seen. Get him next to a ruler please?

hey, it all depends on what avenue you want to take in the future. If youd like to start it on live food and keep it on live with supplements then go for it. BUT, young polypterus avidly seek bloodworm blocks (to initiate eating), then try beefheeat (for growth), krill,whitefish (silvesides or smelts chopped up) and small feeders. Keep in mind that polys give a bite or 2 and then swallow, so make sure your food is easily palatable. I have around a 19 inch polypterus that wrangles with jumbo shrimp and large smelt for example, and i have to give him the gelatinized stuff!
