So I read the sticky about bichir behavior, but I'm wondering if I missed something. I know it takes fish a little bit to warm up to their new home. I just got my first bichir last night and I was wondering if it's normal for them to be inactive for a while before they start to swim all over the place. I know the sticky on here said something about them "floating" sometimes but ziggy has just hung out at the base of one of my plastic plants since last night. He swam around for about 5 or 6 mins then just stayed there till this morning where he's still at. I know he's alive because as soon as I turned the light on the rams must have remembered "hey there's a new guy in the tank!" and went over and were checking him out again. And he swam into a pvc pipe and just hung out till they left him alone. Is this normal behavior?? I've seen him go up for air a couple times but just goes right back to where he was. Am I being a weirdo for asking?? Lol

It is fine, he will be out and about once you put food in the tank after it calms down. Rams could be on the lunch menu once it grows, be careful.

I wouldn't be to worried, your bichir is just settling in. The stickies give you general information about the species, you will always find some specimens that are more active and some that aren't. Like the others have stated, give your little bichir at least a few more days to adjust to it's new home and sooner than later it will be out and about search for food and discovering it's new home.
