Hi guys :)
i recently set up a 155g :D its only got about 12 small fish in at the moment until i get my oscars, I have been reading about water changes and would like to know if you top up with just cold water ? or if its ok to use cold and warm water,

I was just thinking of the drop in temp if you top up with 40% cold water.
Sorry if it seems a stupid question but i have alot to learn :grinno:

~210 gallon setup and this is what I do.

Day before PWC

1. Fill trash can bought just for this and not used for anything else with RO DI water. (You can use tap, just make sure you treat it)
2. Put a powerhead and heater in trash can(If it's a salt setup add salt)
3. Go to bed.

Day of water change.

1. Wheel the trashcan next to my tank
2. Drain desired amount from the tank while vacuuming the gravel/sand.
3. Use a small pump to pump the water out of the trash can and into the sump(if you don't have a sump you can just pump it into the display tank)

IMO its better to do water changes using water that is just slightly warmer then the tank temp. It will cool down faster then it can warm up.

Thanks guys,did my first one today,easy peasy:D
took me 2 hours  but once i get in the routine i might get it down to an hour and half.:D
