As I went to the creek a couple days ago, it got me thinking of the last time I did this and that's when I said I was going to do a "small" native tank to get me by till I get my big tanks in about a year. The Longear's were on the beds and I saw 2 big fish guarding a nest. But they weren't doing too good of a job. A bunch of Green Sunfish, KY, Smallies, and others were pounding the nest. What I thought was a male and female, turns out to be two males. I didn't know males helped guard a nest, I figured it would be male and female. Anyways, I got the one early on, that left the other to take care of all the other fish. Before the worm could reach the nest the other fish would pick it up first. So I got a split shot, new worm and caught the other on the first try. I'm going to add one or two more and that's it. I hate being limited, I miss my 500 gallon native tank where I could add just about anything. But these are good for now.
I came home to find one on the floor, dried up but not stiff and not moving. I tossed it back in the tote till I was ready to move the fish, was going to feed it to my bass but somehow, it survived
